The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) provides an analysis of the European response in the field of cohesion, maritime and transport policies, concerning in particular health-related border management. In his message on European action in the emergency situation, CPMR President Vasco Cordeiro, President of the Government of the Azores (Portugal), underlined the need for urgent EU measures in support of cohesion policy as a response to COVID-19, welcoming in this regard the Coronavirus Response Investment Initiative package. During the 48th CPMR General Assembly, on 29 October 2020, the members reiterated the importance of involving regional authorities in the EU Recovery Plan.

CPMR has published a detailed analysis on the EU Recovery Plan post-COVID-19 and raised 10 key questions on the EU budget and recovery plan from the perspective of regional authorities. On the same subject, CPMR dedicates its June newsletter to the recovery plan for Europe. In addition, CPMR called for urgent adoption of the new Pact for Asylum and Migration. CPMR also organised three online meetings on the impacts of COVID-19 on the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
